peshawar_university_new_academic_block_-_pukhtoogle-599x275PESHAWAR, Nov 20: More than two-hundred and fifty students from University of Peshawar (UoP) belonging to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) will get fully funded HEC scholarships under the Federal Government Scholarship Program 2012-13.

Media & Protocol Officer of UoP, Akhter Amin while talking to the FRC reporter said that Masters, MS/M. Phil and PhD students belonging to FATA could avail of the scholarships if these students could prove agency domicile and local certificates. He said that the federal government would pay tuitions fees including academic, institutional and mandatory fees that were otherwise charged by educational institutions.

FRC learnt that every FATA student enrolled on merit in University of Peshawar or in other public sector universities, affiliated government colleges and public sector Degree Awarding Institutes of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could avail of scholarships by contacting the Director of Finance, the Treasurer and the Registrar of their institutions.

Students studying outside the province or who already have HEC, Provincial Government or other organizational scholarships could not avail of the opportunity.

The said scholarship program was approved in a Federal Cabinet meeting held on the 1st of June this year, it was initially introduced for five years from 2012-13 till 2015-16 with the aim to promote education in educationally backward areas of the country including FATA, Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan.

This scholarship program will last till 2016 but students enrolled under the said program would be funded until the end of their degree program even if they extend beyond 2016.
